I live in Eastern Washington amidst acres and acres of hop fields (for national and international beer making). It's arid here and irrigation waters these canyons of vines -- waters from the Pacific Crest Mountains -- that fill this valley. Sometimes, if you're lucky, monster whirlwinds swish through the fields and onto the roads. I believe this is lucky because these are The Ancients come down from the glaciated hills to check on the plants, the fields and the water. I always say hello when Ancients swish through, kissing my car and then the tips of hawk wings. I feel like this salmon watercolor holds the pillars of ghosty Ancients come to visit my painting. Saying hello for a brief moment before disappearing into the hills.
